Nature of matters that can be reported

If you see something that looks suspicious, please report it to us, even if you are not sure. You may report matters such as:

As a whistleblower, you may choose to report a suspicious activity anonymously or confidentially. All whistleblowing reports will be treated with utmost confidentiality and the identity of the whistleblower, if known, will be protected under the confines of our policies and the Law.

Key principles in reporting fraud

Principle 1: Obligation to report

Any employee, supplier or customer who has a reasonable belief that there is an incident or impending incident, may raise a concern. Additionally, an obligation exists, in certain professions such as accountancy, actuarial and auditing, to blow the whistle on any identified irregularity.

Principle 2: Protection of the whistleblower

Liberty Kenya will try its utmost to protect an individual’s identity when s/he raises a concern by complying with relevant whistleblowing legislation which is aimed at protecting whistleblowers. Any retaliation taken against a whistleblower because s/he has made a disclosure in accordance with our whistleblowing policy will be treated as gross misconduct and dealt with accordingly.

Principle 3: False of malicious disclosures

A whistleblower that makes a report with false allegations, malicious intent and knowing the information provided is untrue will not be protected. In such cases, disciplinary and/or legal action will be taken against the person concerned.
